| | Species Available: | Bass, Black Bream, Grey Mullet, Wrasse (some big ones!), Garfish, Pollack, Plaice, Conger and occasional Red Mullet | | How to Fish: | There are many separate marks to fish as the bathing pools cover quite a large area. You can try from the back of the mens pool for Bass fishing a rising tide at dusk from before half tide. A mackerel head with guts can be effective.
Fishing at low tide from the back of the ladies pool can produce Bream when casting toward Castle Cornet and some large wrasse casting toward Sark.
Most areas can be fished but try roaming along the low tide mark until you find a productive area. | | Mark information: | The bathing pools are used during the summer months by swimmers and their families so it is often best to avoid the area at these times. Alternatively, if the tide is low you can fish when there are people so long as there is not too much disturbance in the water.
Generally the bottom is clean when casting in the direction of castle cornet where casting towards sark or Jersey gives a very rough bottom where the wrasse live. Close in are some kelp and weed beds as you move south of the pools themselves onto the spits of rock. | | Best Tide: | Most tides can be fished depending on where you are. High can be fished on some marks where low is best on others. A rising tide can be very productive. |
